Christmas Bread & the 2nd Adam


Micah 5 is one of the great Prophetic Messianic scriptures that will be quoted from now till the celebrated 25th day of December.Β

Chapter 1:1 identifies the prophet as “Micah of Moresheth” (a town in southern Judah), and states that he lived during the reigns of Yehotam, Ahaz and Hezekiah, roughly 750–700 BC. Β 

Over 2500 years ago then the writer proclaims that one would come whose origins would be so old they are from “everlasting”.

Let’s look at the connection in the prophecy between Β the first and second Adam in

  • 1st Corinthians 15:45, the bit
  • in Micah 5:1 and in Genesis 3:16-19 via the cluster of words invoked in the prophecy.Thus it is written, β€œThe first man Adam became a living being”;the last Adam became a life-giving spirit. (1 Cor 15:45)

    until the time that she who travails has brought forth;

    and the residue of his brethren will return with sons of Israel

    till you return to the ground; for out of it you were taken;

  • Do you see the interplay of words between the two sections
    in Gen 3 & Micah 5 vis-a-vis the Β first and second Adam?

And if so, does anything stand out to y’all?

In Micah 5 – where there is a clear prophetic hint of Messiah,
can one see a cluster of concepts that originates in Genesis 3?

“out of the House of Bread”

– the first man eats bread by the sweat of His brow;

whereas now, the Bread will be provided by the Father;

even previous hints like Deut 8:3 “man will not live by bread alone”

lots of scriptural refs on ‘bread’; yet focus is on Who provides it…

Ephratah, (APRTH “alef,peh,resh,tav,heh” – ori. from ashes – APR,

so APR & JPR “ayin,peh,resh” are paralleled as in Job for

“dust & ashes” for the same sense; we repent in “dust & ashes”

because we return to “dust & ashes” as the first Adam does in 3:19

Second Adam (son of man) delivers us from the “dust & ashes” as in

Isaiah 61:3

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

to give unto them a garland for ashes (APR), the oil of joy for mourning,

the mantle of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

that they might be called terebinths of righteousness,

the planting of YHVH, wherein He might glory.


MaShaL: typically translated as ‘ruler’, also “example, similitude”

the first man is to be a MaShaL for his wife whereas the second Man

is to be MoShaL in Yisrael, who is from before, from days of eternity…

Sun & moon were created to “memshelet” (MShL) over day & night,

and yet in Rev 21:23 (21 is all about the new heaven and new earth):

“And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it,

for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.”

The first Adam is from the ‘adamah’ (earth) and will return to the ‘adamah’,

The second “son of man” is from before, from days of eternity and will

return with the remnant of His brethren and the sons of Yisrael

taldi banim – birth sons (in increased pain and travail) in Gen 3;

Yoladah yaladah – birthing will give birth in Micah 5 via travail

1 Corinthians 15 (second half) helps tie them together with the

principle of “first the natural, then the spiritual”:

42 So is it with the resurrection of the dead.

What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable.

43 It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory.

It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.

If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

45 Thus it is written, β€œThe first man Adam became a living being”;

the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural,

and then the spiritual.

47 The first man was from the earth, a man of dust;

the second man is from heaven.

48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust,

and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.

49 Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust,

we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.

As we are all using messianic prophecies this time of year;

I thought this particular passage evoked some cool word pictures,

using the “first the natural, then the spiritual” principle of 1 Cor 15

to look into the intertextuality (Hebrew word interplay to invoke

earlier references) of Micah 5, especially in light of what the Messiah

is coming to do for all of us…

The only baby Worshipped by Angels

We know that Angels can be assigned to watch over little onesΒ but there is only ONE child that Angels ever worshiped or ever would worship!

Remember that in both the Old and New Testament ONLY God can be worshiped.

Luke 4:5Β The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.

6And he said to him, β€œI will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.

8Β Jesus answered, β€œIt is written: β€˜Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”

Even God’s mighty Angels themselves will NOT receive worship!Β 

Rev 22:8 And I, John, am he who heard and witnessed these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell prostrate before the feet of the messenger (angel) who showed them to me, to worship him.

Rev 22:9 But he said to me, Refrain! [You must not do that!] I am [only] a fellow servant along with yourself and with your brethren the prophets and with those who are mindful of and practice [the truths contained in] the messages of this book. Worship God!

Matthew 2:

Mat 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Mat 2:9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
Mat 2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
Mat 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
Mat 2:12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

Hebrews 1:

Hebrews 1:6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.”

And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all God’s angels worship Him.”

Heb 1:4 [Taking a place and rank by which] He Himself became as much superior to angels as the glorious Name (title) which He has inherited is different from and more excellent than theirs.

Heb 1:5 For to which of the angels did [God] ever say, You are My Son, today I have begotten You [established You in an official Sonship relation, with kingly dignity]? And again, I will be to Him a Father, and He will be to Me a Son? [II Sam. 7:14; Ps. 2:7.]

Heb 1:6 Moreover, when He brings the firstborn Son again into the habitable world, He says, Let all the angels of God worship Him.

At the Christmas season we set aside time to worship the only child that God would allow to receive worship because the child is Himself God.

Isa 9:6 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. [Isa. 25:1; 40:9-11; Matt. 28:18; Luke 2:11.]

Isa 9:7 Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. [Dan. 2:44; I Cor. 15:25-28; Heb. 1:8.]
