Breaking covenant Part 3: From wilderness to promise

The covenant journey stands in history as easily one of the most important trips of the all human history.

The covenant trip was an agreement with God and Israel on a journey that would take them from bondage to a promised land of great blessing.

BiteByte on this, the broken covenant contract turned a journey to a land of milk and honey into a death trip ending with many of their bones in the wilderness.    Selah

Psalms 106:
10 He saved them from the hand of the foe;
from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.

11 The waters covered their adversaries;
not one of them survived.

12 Then they believed his promises
and sang his praise.

13 But they soon forgot what he had done
and did not wait for his plan to unfold.

14 In the desert they gave in to their craving;
in the wilderness they put God to the test.

15 So he gave them what they asked for,
but sent a wasting disease among them.

Breaking covenant Part 2: Never leave you or forsake you

One of the most quoted scriptural phrases in the bible is the promise “I will never leave you or forsake you.”   That promise is quoted and held dearly by believers everywhere and for good reason.
It expresses and demonstrates God’s tremendous faithfulness to his people!

But what about this scripture, which I don’t think is quoted as often:

2Ch 15:1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

2Ch 15:2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

Breaking covenant Part 1: Staff of Beauty asunder

Bite Sized Truth : Covenants are powerful and important but remember covenants can be BROKEN.

Covenant is a very important concept both in life in general and in the spiritual world as revealed by scripture.  A covenant at its core is simply an agreement.  Two sides agree to do something, to provide something.  In business this is a the basis of a contract.

God is the originator of covenants.   He is the author of agreements.

In scriptural teaching agreements are VERY important before God and His court of judgement in the Kingdom of Heaven.
There is a lot of teaching on covenants in recent years that is prevalent in the church world.   The emphasis however is mostly on what God promises to do for us in biblical covenants.  What is often not spoken about these days however is that covenants can be broken.

Zec 11:10  And I took my staff, Beauty or Grace, and broke it in pieces to show that I was annulling the covenant or agreement which I had made with all the peoples [not to molest them].

Zec 11:11  So the covenant was annulled on that day, and thus the most wretched of the flock and the traffickers in the sheep who were watching me knew (recognized and understood) that it was truly the word of the Lord.   – AMP Bible

Zec 11:10  And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people.

Zec 11:11  And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD.  – KJV
