2 Thessalonians 3:10 Must work to eat

For even when we were with you, we used to give you this command:
“If anyone is not willing to work, neither should he eat.”
– 2 Thessalonians 3:10

Meditation:
2 Thessalonians KJV

2Th 3:6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
2Th 3:7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
2Th 3:8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
2Th 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2Th 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
2Th 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
2Th 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
2Th 3:14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
2Th 3:15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

AMP

2Th 3:7 For you yourselves know how it is necessary to imitate our example, for we were not disorderly or shirking of duty when we were with you [we were not idle].
2Th 3:8 Nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and struggle we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden or impose on any of you [for our support].
2Th 3:9 [It was] not because we do not have a right [to such support], but [we wished] to make ourselves an example for you to follow.
2Th 3:10 For while we were yet with you, we gave you this rule and charge: If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.
2Th 3:11 Indeed, we hear that some among you are disorderly [that they are passing their lives in idleness, neglectful of duty], being busy with other people’s affairs instead of their own and doing no work.
2Th 3:12 Now we charge and exhort such persons [as ministers in Him exhorting those] in the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) that they work in quietness and earn their own food and other necessities.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep'sclothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Matthew 7:15

Galatian 6:4 Satisfaction in work.

But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. Galatians 6:4

New Living Translation
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.

English Standard Version
But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.

Diligence is a righteous quality of greatly emphasized importance in Scripture.
Slothfulness is an unrighteous quality severely warned against in the Bible.

Every Sickness can be healed in Christ!

Matt 9:35

35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

None of these diseases

I will put none of these diseases!  Exodus 15:26

26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes,
I will put none of these diseases upon thee
, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

The War of Ideas – All in the Heart

Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ are called to fight a war and that war is the Ideological War aka The War of Ideas.

The Son of God taught his followers to fight words with other words, to fight ideas with better ideas and that truth is the antidote for false ideas and deception:

Joh 8:30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.
Joh 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
Joh 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:30-32

In this series let’s examine and meditate on some related scriptures and BiteBytes of truth.

“The Heart” in scriptures is spirit of a person.  The essence of who the person is derives from that spirit or “heart” just as the driving force of the physical body depends entirely on the marvelous living blood pump we call the physical heart.

The Great Commision

War! The word brings to the mind images of physical conflict and weapons but as Jesus told us in Matthew 26:52 “Put away your sword,” Jesus told him. “Those who use the sword will die by the sword.

We can begin with Jesus words to all his followers at His ascension, often called “The Great Commission”.

Unsearchable Greatness! Ps. 145:3

His greatness is unsearchable

If we were to define some way or standard that allowed to measure “Greatness”  what would that definition look like?

How would we measure it?

Perhaps by pure power and energy?  By the scope of one’s influence?   Some perhaps by wealth or wealth or possessions others by nobility and qualities of what we consider “goodness”.
Total knowledge, intelligence and wisdom is certainly a possibility?

Then again, what if we used all of the above?

The scriptures reveal that by any valid standard we would find that God’s GREATNESS is literally UNSEARCHABLE.  There is no way to find it’s limit!  Selah

Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable. - Ps. 145:3

Belief is not enough

BiteByte:  Not all belief is the kind that saves.

Jesus knew what was IN the heart John 2:23-25

God’s ability to search every heart perfectly means that he knows when someone’s faith is genuine faith that  leads to a real relationship with the Lord Jesus and leads to eternal life.

Some belief lacks the power of salvation.  This type of faith is only an intellectual acknowledgement compared in scripture to the belief that the spiritual entities known as demons have which only leads them to shudder knowing the day of their judgement is coming.

James 2:20 (AMP)  Are you willing to be shown [proof], you foolish (unproductive, spiritually deficient) fellow, that faith apart from [good] works is inactive and ineffective and worthless?

Bible-lessons-on-Obedience

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Ephesians 2:10
